Cornetta Kids

I spent most of Wednesday afternoon playing with my niece's three kids, Noelle, Anthony and Benjamin. Ben is three months old and we wanted to get a picture of the 3 of them before he gets much bigger.
We shot natural light in the shade and the results were good. Several, like the one on the left, required some photo manipulation to get a nice expression on all three kids. In this case we brought Ben in from a sequential shot.

Duxbury Massachusetts

We drove out to Duxbury Beach in Massachusetts to watch the sunset and the moonrise last night. It was a great break from the heat of North Carolina. Once the sun set we had to put on sweatshirts.

Headshots

My son-in-law Dave Bell (UNC Chapel Hill) needed new headshots so we scheduled a session just before I left for Boston this week. We got to use my new Cole background and and Lumopro reflector.

I also used the opportunity to get a couples shot of Dave with my daughter Jennie. Jennie is an admissions director at UNC Chapel Hill.
(Technical: Alien Bee 1600 left of camera, AB 1600 high right for hair light, Lumopro right of camera in close)

Someone's Sister Photo Shoot

We just did a really cool concept photography shoot with Someone's Sister for their upcoming CD release. All of the images are under wraps until the CD is released. Andy Cox and I had a shoot out - Andy on Nikon and me on Canon. I have to confess...either system is great! Andy is great to have as a second photographer because he sees things differently from me and always gets the great shots.

Someone's Sister is a band centered on the work of Georgia Winfree and Katherine Jones. Their music is fantastic, but even more important is their cause, preventing child abuse. Someone’s Sister hopes to give their money away while directing the spotlight onto child abuse prevention.

You can see Someone's Sister in the Triangle area on Sept 26, 2008, at Club Steel Blue in Durham.

Shenandoah National Park

We stayed in Shenandoah National Park for 3 nights last week to build up our portfolio of nature and wildlife photography images. The landscape was stunning, especially after a late afternoon thunderstorm. The deer in Shenandoah are fearless and we were fortunate to get some good shots of several eight and ten point bucks.

There will be more images on the website soon.

East Coast School

Dallas photographer Gail Nogle (standing) with Nancy & Don Emmerich
I spent last week at the East Coast School. East Coast School is sponsored by the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and is affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America. I had the pleasure of working under Don and Nancy Emmerich this year. The Emmerichs run Studio Art Photography in Oklahoma City. I was awarded two PPA merits for my participation in the program.
